The concept of abrasive flow machining

     Abrasive flow Machining (abrasive flow Machining for short AFM) technology is a newest machining method, which uses abrasive media (a flowable mixture mixed with abrasive grains) to flow over the surface to be processed under pressure. Deburring, flashing, and rounding are performed to reduce the waviness and roughness of the surface of the workpiece and achieve the smoothness of precision machining. The AFM method is the best method of choice for workpieces that require complicated manual finishing or complex shapes, and parts that are difficult to process by other methods. The AFM method can also be applied to the workpieces that are not satisfied with the mass processing or that will be injured during processing with rollers, vibrations and other large quantities. And it can effectively remove the delamination regenerated after electrical discharge processing or laser beam processing and the residual stress remaining on the processed surface of the previous process.
